Mercury Sulphate

Mercury(II) Sulphate, commonly called Mercuric Sulphate is the chemical compound HgSO4. It is an odourless solid that forms white granules or crystalline powder.

In water, it separates into an insoluble sulphate with a yellow colour and sulfuric acid. Mercury Sulphate is used as a catalyst in organic chemistry. In the production of acetaldehyde from acetylene and water.

Mercury Sulphate is also used in Sulphuric Acid Solution for the Determination of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD).
